Engaging your participants and providing a positive experience are important goals in every project. Your choice of Display Mode plays a key role supporting both your data collection and engagement goals. Want to make it easier to keep things moving? Focus Mode helps your participants go with the flow. Want to allow participants to see the big picture and think things through? Classic Mode offers greater visibility and control over navigation.
Here’s how to make your choice:
- Create or open a project.
- From the Design menu bar, click on Visual Settings.
- Under Display Mode on the left panel, make your choice:
- Classic Mode
This traditional option allows participants to choose when to scroll to answer the next question. - Focus Mode
With this mode enabled, participants focus on one question at a time instead of seeing the whole page at once.
- Review and set spacing between questions.
- Comfortable displays questions with slightly more space between.
- Compact displays questions with less space between.
- Comfortable displays questions with slightly more space between.
- Choose whether to advance questions automatically or manually. No matter your choice, participants will still be able to navigate normally, by mouse, scroll bar, etc.
- Automatic shifts focus immediately to the next question when a single-select question is answered. After answering open-ended or more complex question types, participants click an arrow to shift to the next question.
- When automatic advancement is disabled, participants click the arrow below to shift to the next question.
