The U.S. Postal Service is ending Saturday delivery, after losing over $15 billion last year and billions more in previous years. But faced with an antagonistic U.S. Congress eager to overhaul (read: slash) their budget, Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe is doing whatever he can to reduce costs.
Without a doubt, the widespread use of the internet has directly contributed to their troubles. But there’s something about the U.S.P.S. unofficial motto, “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” that still inspires in the digital age. Postal workers are dedicated workers—they’re going to deliver your mail, and nothing is going to stop them.
Sogolytics has adopted the Postal Service motto, if not their business plan.
Your email is important, too. Spending hours designing a survey is fruitless if your participants never see it. And though we don’t have to brave the elements or angry dogs to deliver your email, we do have to tackle quite a few obstacles to ensure your survey invitations reach their destination.
Spam almost ruined email. In those early days, your inbox was more likely filled with advertisements from computer bots than email from actual people. But spam filters saved email, subsequently changing the way we communicate.
As spam filters became more sophisticated, sometimes legitimate email was rerouted into spam folders. Early survey tools had no way to prevent this. Low delivery rates led to low response rates and inaccurate data.
Sogolytics created Email Relay specifically to deal with this problem. Our system eliminates the most common reasons surveys are likely to be flagged as spam, thereby driving up your response rates.
Because of the system’s success, Sogolytics developed an unofficial motto of its own, “Neither spam filter, nor . . . . ”
